I often use games in my homeschool, or for family game night that also encourage learning in one way or another. With a 4 and 7 year old I need them to appeal to a wider age range, be fun and engaging, covertly teach skills, and be affordable. Educational Insights has a whole range of games and other products that cover all these and more! They make great gifts for Christmas, birthdays, Easter baskets, and no occasion at all!
Games to Encourage Learning
What I loved about this game so much was that both my kids despite the 3 year age range loved this so much they played it repeatedly. The Frankie pincher really works on their fine motor and hand eye coordination. Shapes also get plenty of review as well as matching skills, taking turns, and just plain old fun!
This was super fun, even for me! Colors, shapes, fine motor skills, sportsmanship, hand eye coordination- all get a work out in this fast paced game!
While these are not technically games, they are a fun and engaging way to practice some school skills- We use them in the car, waiting at the dr.’s office or in restaurants, while I am prepping dinner and need to keep them busy with a task.
This program is ideal for early Preschoolers up to Kindergartners needing a good review. It includes Shapes, Colors, Patterns, Numbers, Learning the Alphabet, and Uppercase and Lowercase Letters. We can pull out a handful of cards and work on one skill at a time or cover a variety of topics- perfect practice for my VPK age girl! The fun doggy “pen” that comes with it and talks to you definitely helps keep it more like a game and less like work!
Again, like preschool, this pack for second grade can be used at home or for on the go practice. This set includes the the Hot Dots Talking Pen, 2 books with 85 interactive lessons and 15 bonus advanced lessons. They are rewarded with lights and sound and it helps them gain confidence in some basic skills.
