We have been enjoying Memoria Press‘s Third Grade Literature Guide Set that we received for review with my son for over a month now. I love how it dives deeper into the book, covering vocabulary, comprehension, and encourages discussion- making it a much richer reading experience! Keep reading to check out how much we enjoyed our first literature guide in the set- Farmer Boy!
We are very eclectic homeschoolers and the structure that this classical education style curriculum brings brought an aspect that we really needed in our school. I am a big reader and had hoped my children would follow in my footsteps, while my son struggled at first he is off and reading wonderfully now. He does it on his own quite often with no prompting and it does a moms heart good to see that! That is a wonderful start but once they are reading well on their own there are other things that children need in a great language arts program to develop deeper understanding, vocabulary, and great reading comprehension. I had no idea where to start with it and was really happy to have these guides to help us both. Our Third Grade Literature set came with a student guide and a teacher manual for each of these classic books- Farmer Boy, Charlotte’s Web, A Bear Called Paddington, and Mr. Poppers Penguins. We chose to start with Farmer Boy, a personal favorite of mine. I love how each guide follows the same format so by the time your child gets to the second and so on the flow will be easy and natural for them. Each guide dives into the book it goes along with and really takes them deep into the learning.
